About Caryl

When I was growing up, I had no idea what career path I wanted to follow. So many things interested me—oceanography, creative writing, textile design, philosophy, fashion, computers. I’ve always been a creative thinker, drawn to exploring patterns and possibilities, which later served me well as a Product Manager solving tech challenges, and continues to today.

I’ve also been empathic for as long as I can remember. It can be intense sensing other people’s emotions, especially in high-pressure work settings. For years, I had no clue that not everyone experienced this, or why I needed so much alone time to recover.

My acupuncturist had suggested QiGong more than once, even offering free Saturday classes that I never attended. The idea stayed with me, though. Eventually, feeling drained from both work and personal stress, I visited my naturopath. He treated me and gave me some QiGong exercises to practice at home. That evening, I had a huge emotional release—cathartic and eye-opening. That was my turning point. I took a QiGong foundations class and ultimately earned my Doctorate in Chinese Energetic Medicine, which completely changed my life.

Now, I want to use my experiences and education to help others—especially when it comes to understanding how we absorb other people’s emotions and managing that in a healthier way. By blending my business experience with Eastern teachings, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful this synergy can be. My goal is to provide a holistic, transformative approach to personal and professional growth.

About Megan

Remember the TV show The X-Files? Well, growing up all I wanted to do was be Gillian Anderson’s character Scully. Yes, I wanted to be a forensic pathologist doing autopsies on suspicious deaths. So I set up my life for a career in Western Medicine. At the end of my junior year in college, I remember walking into the Bio building and wondering what on earth I’m doing. Do I really want to give up the next 8 years of my life for a check mark? The answer to that was No.

So I graduated and sped off into the field of business. Yes, I did indeed work for Blockbuster for almost a decade. One of the most valuable skills is taking skills from other fields and disciplines and applying them in completely disparate fields. Blockbuster - and especially in its fairly quick decline gave me the biggest lessons in rapport and people and emotions during turbulent times.

Then I moved to the “Upset is Optional” phase of my life. During the entire first year of the acupuncture school l I went to, you didn’t pick up a needle. The frame of the year was “the word as needle”. So you did the work on yourself. And you learned to use your body as a barometer as to what was showing up in front of you. And yes, I promise I got very good with a needle as well.

In the past decade or so of practice the thing I’ve learned has become one of my signature sayings. “The number one thing that determines anyone’s health is the story they tell themselves around it.” All the techniques in the world won’t help if you are your own worst enemy.

After 10 years, I wanted to learn more options to help people be able to shift their story. So, I decided to focus on a different form of traditional Chinese medicine - Qigong. Qigong is one of those curious words few people really understand. It makes you feel better, have more energy, increases your quality of life, your mobility, your lifespan. It’s also a place to heal from the deepest root level, to cut cords from the past. It’s both self-serving and where I can bring my greatest service to the world.

In every interaction I hope to leave you with some new knowledge about yourself. Here’s your question for today:

“All of our symptoms are our teachers. What’s your body trying to tell you today?’
